Grant Funding Enhances Programs and Services at Wake Tech

Wake Technical Community College is pleased to report grant funding awards of more than $2.1 million in the 2009-10 fiscal year. Such awards are often critical to educational institutions (and other non-profits) as they seek to expand programs and services beyond what regular operating budgets allow.

"Access to Capital" was organized by U.S. Representatives Bob Etheridge and David Price to support small businesses, which account for more than half of all jobs in the private sector.

“Boot Camp” Prepares Students for Careers In Biotech

Biotech students and graduates from across North Carolina got vital hands-on experience at a "boot camp" for biomanufacturing. Wake Technical Community College and NCCCS BioNetwork presented the unique, week-long training session in collaboration with NC State University. It took place at the Capstone Center on NC State's Centennial Campus in Raleigh.

Dr. Stephen Scott, president of Wake Technical Community College, is pleased to announce the appointment of Arthur Andrews as Vice President of Financial and Business Services for Wake Tech. Andrews, a former community college controller and state auditor, will manage the $100 million budget of North Carolina's second largest community college.

Wake Tech Holds 47th Annual Commencement Exercises

Wake Technical Community College graduated the largest class in its history today at the Raleigh Convention Center. More than 1,300 graduates, about 28% more than last year, received degrees and diplomas. That's 28% more graduates than last year. More than 500 graduates participated in the ceremony.

Wake Tech Emergency Training Is Hands-On

Local emergency responders saw some heart-stopping action on Saturday - collisions, overturned vehicles, and trapped passengers needing rescue. Fortunately, it was all an exercise, part of an intensive day of hands-on training Wake Technical Community College held for fire and rescue personnel in Raleigh on June 19.
