Events Include Service Project to End World Hunger
RALEIGH, N.C. (January 13, 2011) - A series of events to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. began today at Wake Tech Community College. Two events were held on Main Campus. The highlight was an effort to honor Dr. King’s legacy by helping to end world hunger. 75 volunteers packed 10,000 meals that will be distributed to schools and orphanages around the world. “This project provides a wonderful opportunity to continue Dr. King’s work and vision,” said Mark Gibson, Dean of Student Development. “It’s a chance for students, faculty, and staff to take time out of a busy day to think of others.” Read more…

Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce Contributes to Culinary Exchange Trip
RALEIGH, N.C. (January 5, 2012) - Students in Wake Tech’s Culinary Arts program got a little closer to real French cuisine today - with a $600 contribution from the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Director Tommy Broadwell presented the check to Dr. Stephen Scott, Wake Tech President, and Jeff Hadley, head of the Culinary Arts Department, to support the students’ planned study trip to France, in March. RALEIGH, N.C. (December 19, 2011) - Bank of America (BOA) will continue its support of vital Wake Tech programs for adults who are completing high school and want to continue their education. The financial institution has presented Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen Scott with a check for $30,000 for student scholarships. The funds will support graduates of Wake Tech’s GED and Adult High School programs who want to take additional courses to acquire new skills or prepare for degree programs. Read more…
