RALEIGH, N.C. (August 25, 2010) - The Wake Technical Community College Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome two new members to its ranks. Brenda Castonguay, appointed by Governor Perdue, and Merrie Hedrick, appointed by the Wake County Board of Commissioners, were sworn in on Tuesday, August 17, as the newest Trustees on Wake Tech’s 12-member Board. RALEIGH, N.C. (August 23, 2010) - Wake Technical Community College has been selected to lead a statewide overhaul of community college programs to improve education and training in emerging green technologies and sustainability. Wake Tech Dean Robert “Butch” Grove will manage the Code Green Super CIP (Curriculum Improvement Project). The project’s goal is to provide more relevant training for those entering the workforce by integrating sustainability concepts and skills into all parts of the curriculum. There are five areas of focus: building, energy, transportation, environment, and engineering technology. Each project team will work to revise existing programs and add new training components. RALEIGH, N.C. (August 23, 2010) - Robert “Butch” Grove, a Wake Tech instructor and administrator for more than 20 years, has been named Wake Tech’s new Dean of Sustainability. Grove will be in charge of incorporating sustainable practices and processes into Wake Tech programs as well as adding new environmentally-focused training components. Grove has also been tapped to manage a statewide project to improve the educational curriculum in sustainability and “green” technologies at all North Carolina community colleges. The Code Green Super CIP (Curriculum Improvement Project) will focus on building, energy, transportation, environment, and engineering technology.
